Overview
The mouth is more than teeth. We diagnose and manage conditions of the oral soft tissues — persistent ulcers, white or red patches, swellings, cysts, mucosal infections such as thrush, lip and tongue lesions, and other oral pathological conditions. Early assessment matters: most lesions are harmless and settle with simple treatment, but any sore that has not healed within two weeks should be examined, biopsied where indicated, and referred promptly if needed.

Anyone with a mouth ulcer lasting more than two weeks, unexplained patches, lumps, swelling, persistent soreness or a burning sensation in the mouth.

When should I worry about a mouth ulcer?+
Any ulcer or patch that has not healed within two weeks should be examined, even if it is painless.
Do you perform biopsies?+
Yes. Where a lesion needs laboratory confirmation, we take a small sample under local anaesthesia and arrange onward care if required.
